Chapter 14 page 16

posted October 9, 2015 11:00 am

You know, it occurred to me recently as I've been reading other webcomics to get myself back in touch for my return to regular updates, that maybe I should have found a different format for this project. Like release it bi-monthly on Comixology or something. Particularly if I'm going to take 5 months off in the middle of a chapter. Gets confusing for people who don't want to reread 300+ pages of comics to get back up to speed. Then when I try to be intentionally confusing it's doubly confusing and everybody's like "whaaaa?"

Too late now, though; let's power through.

I promise that Luke's first words here are not an example of this trope.

The next nine pages after this one are ready to go, so you can expect regular updates for five weeks. After that, there will be pause until chapter 15 is done, then 12 weeks, etc... I should have done it this way from the beginning, honestly.

Ugh.

I think the subject matter of these pages is what has made me drag my feet. It's meant to be about the sort of dating advice that young men give each other when they think no one else is listening. This happens all the time on the internet. It's just so... embarrassing.

Anyway, here I am again with 3/4 of a project finished and little time to work on it. Still, NPWIL was completed. Maybe I shouldn't mention that...

Anybody recognize this room? I cheated a little and rotated the bench they're sitting on to avoid having to draw Buddha of Medicine Bhaishajyaguru. It's crazy, you can walk right in there with Google street view. Some world. You cannot however go into my favorite room in the museum which is at the end of the corridor on the left side of panel 1. I'll be trying to reconstruct it on coming pages.

Since this is kind of reference-heavy, I'll give you the links. for panel 1: see Opplopolis 13 pg 5. And for panel 4: see Opplopolis 8 pg 11 and 12. I'm not saying I'm going to do this every time, though.

Ok folks, I got it back together. We're going to go to a two page a week schedule from here on in, which will be agonizingly slow, but, looking on the bright side, will delay the series' inevitable end. See you on Monday.

Couple of things

Just a short note to keep everyone informed. I checked on the amazon page for the Opplopolis collection today and noticed that the kindle edition of the first chapter has been tied to the print collection (which is why Tim seems to have reviewed the book twice.) I should have realized that this would happen as they are both the first volumes of a series called "Opplopolis", but it took a while for amazon to make the connection so I didn't notice right away. I did something to fix it, but until that takes effect please don't be misled; you can't actually get the 278 page book on kindle for $2.99.

I'm taking a little break, in case you haven't noticed. Just a little time to mull over some things without worrying about knocking out four pages of comics every week. I've got a trip coming up from which I will return on the 23rd, so I'll get back to this sometime after that. How long after, I don't know. Like I said, the point is I'm not worrying about it.

I am participating in that inktober thing, though, if you're interested.
